How can I find a Linux lab computer to connect to remotely?

If you are logged into the CAEN Linux Login Service, you can run the following command to find an available CAEN Lab Linux computer to connect to:

$ getmach

This command will return the hostname of a lab computer running Linux that has no one logged into it. You can then ssh to that host, and run CAEN software on a system with more RAM and CPU resources.

Note that CAEN lab computers are not intended for long-running or unattended simulations. individuals who require extended background computing resources should consider Alternatives to CAEN Computer Labs.
