Why aren't any desktop clients for cloud storage services directly accessible on CAEN computers?

Instead of installing desktop clients locally that can take up the computer's resources, CAEN has implemented a service called Kumo to provide direct access to U-M cloud storage services (U-M Google Drive & U-M Box) from CAEN Windows computers via network drives.
