TotalView Parallel Debugger Program

Rogue Wave Software has rolled out an Academic TotalView Debugger Program to access debugging tools for software development processes. This program will provide a personal license to both enrolled College of Engineering students and academic faculty at no cost. These licenses will be locked to the personal workstation of the individual. They support advanced features such as Memory Debugging, Replay Engine, CUDA Debugging, etc…


For Students

Students interested applying the TotalView Parallel Debugging tool on their personal Linux or Mac OS X workstation should send email to TVExpress@roguewave.com. The email should:

  • Include TVExpress Student License Request in the subject title
  • Provide the name, email address, phone number and department of advisor
  • Provide UM ID number
  • Provide name of the research lab / group
  • Provide projected graduation date
  • Cc: Dennis Andrews (dennis.andrews@roguewave.com)
  • Provide uniqname@umich.edu email address
  • Provide personal telephone number
  • Provide desired platform:
    • Intel Linux-x86
    • Linux-x86-64
    • Apple Mac OS X - (Presently, Snow Leopard and Lion are supported; support for Mountain Lion is planned for later this year)
  • Provide the number of threads on your application
  • Provide the number of cores on your workstation (License will support up to 16 cores)

The TVExpress Student license will expire upon the student's graduation date.


For Faculty

Faculty interested applying the TotalView Parallel Debugging tool on their personal Linux or Mac OS X workstation should send email to TVExpress@roguewave.com. The email should:

  • Include TVExpress Student License Request in the subject title
  • Provide course number and web link to course syllabus if software is to be used for teaching (additional licenses may be made available if teaching a course that includes debugging)
  • Provide research grant number, funding source and short description of research if software is to be used for research
  • Provide name of the research lab / group, along with web link
  • Cc: Dennis Andrews (dennis.andrews@roguewave.com)
  • Provide uniqname@umich.edu email address
  • Provide personal telephone number
  • Provide desired platform:
    • Intel Linux-x86
    • Linux-x86-64

  • Provide the number of cores on your workstation or MAC (License will support up to 16 cores)

The TVExpress Faculty license will expire six months from the issue date.
