Why do some applications take longer than others to launch with Cloudpaging?
When a software application is launched from Cloudpaging, only the bits needed to initially start the application are downloaded and virtualized. Other pieces (e.g. add-ons, plugins, databases, help tools, registry keys...) are not loaded until requested by the application. While this generally increases the speed in which applications start, some applications require a larger number of bits to initially load, and may take longer to download and virtualize.
Applications known to have longer-than-normal load times include:
- Aspen Engineering Suite
- Materials Studio
CAEN staff are working on ways to decrease the load time of these applications.
