What is AFS?

AFS is distributed file system comprised of file servers and clients, and allows many computers to share files over a network. A file server stores files that other computers, or clients, need to access.

At the University of Michigan, students, faculty, and staff are eligible to obtain AFS Personal Storage from ITS. All CAEN Linux computers use AFS as the default home directory to store files and run software applications.
